HOW I'VE MISSED YOU (ODE TO THE BABY I ABORTED)

HOW I’VE MISSED YOU

by Deanna Falchook

Oh how I’ve missed you,

I have been promised that we will be together,

I have been told by the sages that you will come,

I have been promised that there is a place on high

Where your angel eyes see me…

Is it true?

Oh how, I miss you,

Your sparkle would illuminate this room,

Your glitter would brighten my way,

Your love would be strong enough to ward off the daggers of sadness that come on like waves,

How is it that I miss you?

An image, A memory,

You are a sensation,

You are a deep knowingness,

Even though I know not how,

I’ve missed you,

Missing the laughter,

Missing the smile,

Missing the way you would be,

Now…

If…

You were here..

Oh how I miss you,

I will not stop,

Though I can’t continue,

I will not stop,

Though I cannot start,

Imagining why I am here,

Without you ..

Now…

But…

I will believe,

What the sages promise,

We will be together,

The dark room will glisten and sparkle,

From your angel eyes,

As you come in,

To hold me and tell me it’s over,

This waiting,

This great injustice of my life

With me here missing you…
