THAT SWEET KICK (9 WEEKS AND THEN NO MORE)

by Deanna Falchook

I’ve almost forgotten though I long to remember,

I fear I’m forgetting but long to remember,

You…

In your little dance…

You…

In your sweet kicks,..

The world spun around and we laughed,

Together…

But it was too short,

It was all too tragic…

My feet moving..

Your feet moving,

You were there with me holding you in…

It was too brief,

it was so sweet,

I took you for granted,

Never seeing this coming,

My loss,

My tears,

My longing to dance with you,

To remember you because now I fear I’m forgetting,

Though I remember enough for it to burn,

Like the fire that burns so much it freezes me numb,

Sometimes trying not to remember,

Though I fear forgetting you,

In all that you were and in all that you will always be to me,

My little love,

That dance,

That smile,

That time where I was lifted up by you

And you were carried by me in an odd dance,

That I will never have again …this side of heaven.
